Jordan Luke Clements, of Geiriol Road, Townhill, Swansea, had previously pleaded guilty to robbery on the day of trial when he appeared in the dock for sentencing. In interview he denied robbery saying the couple had agreed to sell the console. Clements was arrested in Morriston on January 30 in connection with the breach of a restraining order and was subsequently further arrested on suspicion of robbery. The couple told a family member what was going on, and the police were called. Mr Pulling said the next day the couple found two televisions in their flat which weren't theirs, and later that day they spoke to Clements on the phone - he told them the TVs were stolen and if they went to the police they would be arrested for handling stolen goods. Once back at the flat the defendant began inhaling lighter fluid again, later becoming aggressive and physically abusive towards the couple. The group then went back to the victims' flat via the shops on Gors Avenue where Clements used some of the money from the console to buy tobacco. The prosecutor said Clements took the couple to the ReGenerate shop on Oxford Street where the female victim produced her validation card as proof of identification and sold her console for £105 before giving the cash to the mask-wearing Clements. He then demanded all the console accessories and its case, reset the console to its factory settings, and ordered a taxi into the city centre telling the couple they had "no choice" but to accompany him. The court heard that on the afternoon of January 28 Clements burst into the couple's bedroom brandishing a knife shouting "this is a robbery" and threatening to stab the boyfriend unless his partner handed over her Nintendo Switch games console. The court heard that in January this year the defendant effectively moved into the couple's flat when he was wanted by police for recall to prison, and as the days progressed he became more "paranoid and agitated" about officers looking for him and he began sniffer lighter fluid from gas cannisters. Sending the 26-year-old to prison, a judge said he was dangerous offender and an extended sentence was necessary to protect the public.ĭean Pulling, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that Clements knew a neighbour of the couple - both of whom had vulnerabilities - and would spend time at their flat in Townhill in Swansea. Jordan Clements then compelled his victims to go a local pawn shop where he forced them to sell a Nintendo games console and to give him the cash. A man robbed a vulnerable couple at knife-point in their own bedroom and threatened to stab them, a court has heard.
